The Wells Fargo Center for the Performing Arts is a venue for a variety of performance acts and is located about 20 minute's drive from the West Sonoma Inn. Close by Monte Rio is home of the energetic Pegasus Theater Company, which produces an inspired repertoire of American and international dramatic works year round. Every year in June Art at the Source hosts its Open Studios in the nearby town of Sebastopol. People are encouraged to peruse the studios and take in the art produced by talented local artists. Likewise, artists along the coast showcase their works in the fall at the Sonoma Coast Open Studios Discovery Tour. This event is a free, self-guided tour along scenic Hwy. 1 that let's you enjoy the art at your own leisurely pace.In October Sebastopol is host to an annual sculpture festival called Sculpture Jam. Local artists come together for one weekend in order to create art pieces that they later install around the town. Students, the young and the old, are warmly welcomed and encouraged to participate at this community event.
Music
Guerneville plays host to a few different music festivals throughout the high season, including the Blues Festival and the Russian River Jazz Festival. The Blues Festival takes place in June while the Jazz Festival takes place in September; both events draw large crowds and staking out your place early at Johnson's Beach is a must!Another festival to note is the annual Rockin' & Rollin' on the River hosted by Korbel Vineyards, located about a mile outside town. This festival combines food, wine and fun as guests rock out to live music. Nearby Rodney Strong Vineyards hosts a similar series of concerts throughout the summer that also include live music, food, and wine called the Rodney Strong Summer Concert Series.
If you're looking something more traditional, check out the Celtic Music Festival located in downtown Sebastopol. Performers come from all over the world to join in the celebration at this two-day, three-night event. Come and enjoy workshops, food, drink, dancing, crafts, kids activities, and much, much more! Another Sebastopol music event that draws in people from all over is the Annual Bluegrass and Old Time Music Festival. Each spring talented musicians bring out their fiddles, banjos, and other instruments to perform old favorites as well as new songs for the audience.
